HOW PET REHOMING WORKS WITH CCSPCA

The animals featured on this page are being rehomed by pet owners in the Central Valley. These animals are not in the care of CCSPCA, so all arrangements to meet/adopt must be made between potential adopters and the pet owner. Note: Central California SPCA is not responsible for the pets on this page. Potential adopters are responsible for communicating with pet owners, especially when acquiring veterinary records and/or other necessary information.

  • Description/Contact Information: This is Oso. He is six years old and neutered. I have had him since he was eight weeks old. He has never had any health problems aside from one ear infection. He is a couple of months behind on vaccinations since I have been unable to afford to take him to the vet. He is a bull terrier mix with the mix part unknown. I believe he is mixed with maybe pitbull or another bully breed. He currently lives in a very mellow home but is a very high energy dog. He loves/needs walks and car rides and loves chewing on his bones. He loves people and gets very excited when he sees them which can sometimes come out in a loud bark. This can tend to scare some people unfamiliar with dogs but it is a playful bark and not an aggressive one. He can be a bit of a wrecking ball and loves to do zoomies so he would be best in a home with someone capable of handling a high energy dog or someone familiar with bully breeds. He has played a long with male bull terriers (both fixed and unfixed) very well. He does occasionally growl at his sister. I believe he would be best if he was the only dog in the home but could also do well if he is slowly introduced to another dog.

I love my boy to death and am in tears as I am writing this. Rehoming him is the last thing I want to do but he deserves a much better life. I work a lot and my parents care for him during the day. Due to their old age, they are not able to care for him the way he needs. My father is a disabled vietnam vet with dementia so most of my mother's time needs to go to caring for him. As a result, Oso spends most of his day in his crate with some short walks in the backyard. I will be starting a new job soon where I will be working six days a week and will not be able to spend as much time with him. He is my baby but he deserves to be in a home where he is loved on everyday and smothered in attention that I unfortunately will not be able to give him. Holding on to him is selfish of me at this point and I want my baby to have a happier, more active life.
