Popeye was seized by one of our Humane Officers earlier this year. He is an adult Quarter Horse gelding who the owner says was kicked in the face, which left him blind in his right eye. After examination by Dr. Stabbe with Clovis Equine Clinic at our animal center, it was determined the eye was present but collapsed and infected. Although his eye is not functioning, the vet did not deem it necessary to remove it. After some medication and TLC, Popeye’s infection healed and he was placed up for adoption. He waited several months looking for the perfect adopter. Doreen Allen fell in love with Popeye and was soon transporting him to his new forever home. We are excited that Popeye got a second chance at life and will be cherished by Doreen. If you are interested in adopting a horse, we have plenty to choose from.
