Pups Rescued from Abuse

On Wednesday, September 14, 2016, the Central California SPCA rescued two 10 week old puppies, a German Shepherd mix and Pit Bull mix, that were being abused and neglected by their owner.

The CCSPCA responded to a complaint that the suspect was abusing the puppies at night and that the puppies were skinny and tied up all day without food or water. Our Humane Investigation team arrived to the location at 10:50 a.m. and they found a 10 week old grey and white male pit bull puppy and a 10 week old brown and black male German shepherd puppy chained to 25 pound dumbbells by pinch collars. One of the puppies sustained multiple injuries to its neck, face and had multiple abrasions all over the dog’s body. The other puppy was found to have injuries to its leg. Additionally, Officers found the dogs to be underweight and without shelter from the sun. At approximately 12:07 p.m. the puppies were taking into the custody of the CCSPCA following findings of animal cruelty and neglect.

The puppies were removed and transferred to the CCSPCA where they are being thoroughly examined and will receive any necessary immediate medical care by the compassionate veterinarians and medical staff. The German Shepherd had significant swelling to the right eye. Our veterinarian staff is doing further exams and x-rays to determine if there is any other damage to either puppy. This case has been submitted to the District Attorney for filing.
