Dorothy & Pete’s Story

Dorothy & Pete’s Story

Sometimes we have a tendency to take things for granted when really, it’s these moments that deserve a whole lot of appreciation. And so, we want to take a moment to honor a very generous benefactor to CCSPCA.

Dorothy was born in Fresno on November 19, 1919. She attended Fresno public schools before enrolling at Fresno State College where she was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority. In 1940, she married Leonard M. “Pete” Seiferling, and enjoyed many happy years together in Fresno, spending their summers at their Huntington Lake cabin until Pete’s passing. They adopted their only son, Gary, who passed away in 2014.

Dorothy and Pete both loved pets and had a number of dogs during their lifetime. In her final years, Dorothy enjoyed the companionship of her pair of pugs, named Cheech and Chong, and she loved them dearly. On January 1, 2013, Dorothy passed away. Prior to her passing, she designated that her trust benefit CCSPCA as one of three charitable organizations she wanted her funds to support. In November 2018, CCSPCA received her bequest to assist the animals in our care to provide protection and placement. Given our needs which are ever increasing, Central California SPCA is most grateful for this generous bequest.
