G.L. "GIB" RAMBO RETIRES
After four decades at the helm of the CC/SPCA, G.L. "Gib" Rambo announced his retirement, effective at the end of 2001. He's been appointed the CC/SPCA's Executive Director Emeritus.
"During the past 40 years," Gib wrote in the CC/SPCA News, "we have striven to make the Central California Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals the best shelter in the state of California. Because of our wonderful staff, Board of Directors, many friends and the support of an ever-growing dedicated membership, we have accomplished much toward our goal. I urge you to continue your support in 2002, and add to our membership. 'Every member gets a new member.'"

JUDGE CREED CITES CC/SPCA'S "EXCELLENT" LEADERSHIP
"As the Central California SPCA completes its 55th year since it was founded, it is appropriate that we give tribute to the work and contributions of our first president, O.J. Woodward III," wrote Judge Frank Creede, Jr., Board President, in the CC/SPCA News. "'O.J.' was very direct in his leadership approach, was selective in the charitable responsibilities he undertook, and gave direction and his personal prestige to this fledgling humane organization." Judge Creed noted that O.J. Woodward's aunt, Abbey Woodward Parker, was an important benefactor, and the Woodwards should be remembered for their work and generosity. "There were many long sessions necessary to establish articles and by-laws and plans for the rudimentary buildings with which the SPCA started."
